When our daughter started taking medication for her depression, we put together a mood journal so she could begin to monitor and understand her moods and feelings. It gave her an opportunity to discover her if there were things such as diet, exercise, and sleep that impacted how she was feeling. A mood journal is a way to get in touch with your feelings and can help you see a pattern of your thoughts and moods. You can begin to see if your feelings are related to an event or internal dialogue. It can be helpful to share this with your therapist to track patterns between office visits.
